Creative Writing II
This course is designed as a workshop approach for advancing imaginative and literary skills. Emphasis is placed on the discussion of style, techniques, and challenges for first publications. Upon completion, students should be able to submit a piece of their writing for publication. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Examine the dynamics of language and sharpen his or her own prose and poetic expression;
- Examine the advanced elements of fiction and poetry and make appropriate applications to his or her own writing;
- Constructively critique another's work and discriminately apply classroom criticism to his or her own writing; and
- Recognize the process by which a work comes into being and apply that process to the subjectivity of the creative impulse.
