Swank Digital Campus provides colleges and universities with the largest academic streaming collection of its kind. With over 30,000 films, documentaries and TV shows, Swank Digital Campus simplifies film distribution by providing faculty and students a legal streaming resource both on and off campus.
Swank is different in that it is not a subscription to a set collection of films like Films on Demand. Instead, the library can add a one-year license for films requested by faculty. Faculty should contact Lisa Shores to see if Swank has a particular film.
Once we receive a license for a film, we will send the requesting faculty the direct watch link that can be added to Blackboard for students to access on their own, or films can be shown in class. All currently licensed films are available for anyone with Rowan-Cabarrus credentials through our Swank portal in the A-Z database list. As with all of the library resources, you may be asked to authenticate using your campus login credentials if you access the film off campus.
If you request a film in Swank, please keep in mind that the license is good for one year. You will be contacted about a month before the license expires to see if you want to renew the license for another year. However, it is best practice to always check all your library resource links BEFORE a new semester begins. Links can break, change, or resources are dropped due to the vendor losing the rights to the film.
